Hello everyone! I found a great website that children can get on and explore about Dr. Seuss. There are different games and activities that children can do and there are also books that they can read! What more could ya ask for? This website can be used in your classroom or even at home. The website is easy to follow, incorporates different Dr. Seuss books and is very colorful! I think you'll love it! Check it out by clicking the link below. Have fun!

Life Lessons from Dr. Seuss himself.
Hello everybody! Here are a few rules from Dr. Seuss himself. Just remember these five things. Dr. Seuss books are great to have in an early childhood classroom. There are many lesson plans that you can make with using Dr. Seuss books. A lot of his books children can learn rhyme, math, colors, words, and body functions. I thought this picture below would be a great picture to have laminated in your classroom for the children to have a constant reminder of what they can do in the classroom.
Inside Your Outside
Hello everyone! Inside your
outside talks about science and your body. This would be great for children to
learn the parts of their body and brain on the inside. You can have a picture
of their brain and have the children list off and name the parts of the brain
after you go through a science lesson of their body. Below is a brain that the children would understand, and you could go over what each part of the brain means.
If I Ran The Rainforest
Hello everyone! The book by
Dr. Seuss if I ran the rainforest could be a great book to base a lesson off
of. You can base the lesson all on the rainforest. Go over what parts of the
United States are rainforest, go over the animals that live in the rainforest,
and the plants associated with rainforests. Below are some pictures of the
things you could include in your lesson plan with the book If I ran the rain
forest.
I Want To Be Somebody New.
Hello everyone! This book is
about an animal wanting to be somebody new. Throughout the book the animal
changes into a mouse, elephant and a giraffe. You could do an activity with the
children by taking them on a field trip to the zoo. Then after you are finished
with the children you take them back to the class room and then have them draw
a picture of an animal they saw at the zoo that they would want to be. Have
them write a short story about what that animal does, eats, and looks like.
Ten Apples Up on Top
Hello everyone! This book is
all about counting apples, so for the classroom activity with this book you can
do a math project. I would have make a worksheet with ten apples on it, using the apple I have included to the right of the page. Then I would have them color them and cut them out. Once they are done with
cutting the apples you could have them use them for a guide throughout the
book. To the left, I have a sheet that the children can color, and this would test to
see if the children can connect the colors with their numbers.

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas Video Lesson
Hello everyone! Christmas in near, and what child does not love the movie The Grinch Whole Stole Christmas?! Have the children watch the movie in class one day of the week and after they watch the movie conduct a list as a class of ways to make the Grinch happy again. Then after you finish making a list have the children write a letter to Mr. Grinch explaining to him why they like him and what he should do to make hiself happy. Then put each of the letters on a bulletin board so that the children can feel happy about their work. This is meant to be a fun learning project for the children around Christmas time. Below I have put a clip from the movie, How The Grinch Stole Christmas. You would want to get the full movie to show in class.
Rhyming with Dr. Seuss' Cat In The Hat
Hello everyone! This worksheet that I am going to scan in for you was created in Microsoft Word. The point of the worksheet is to get children's little brains working. This activity you will want to explain to the children what rhyme means before you even start to read the book. Once you go over what rhyme means to the children pass out the worksheet to them, and start to read the book. Explain to them that the first row is an example of what to do and they will be filling out the worksheet as you read to them. The reason I came up with a worksheet was so that you could see if the children are understanding what they are doing and so that you can incorperate a lesson with Dr. Seuss and his famous book "The Cat in The Hat." Below is the worksheet I made in Word, and I scanned in.
